The leather flying helmet is in very good condition, showing only one small spot on the left rear of the helmet where the leather is worn. The sheepskin lining is fully intact, and has the original tag still sewn inside. It is a hard to find large size, and displays great on the accompanying head. The helmet is complete with five metal hooks to attach the oxygen mask to, as well as the sheepskin chin strap and buckle. The two elastic straps to keep the goggles in position on the helmet are still present, and the snaps work fine. The headset is an HS-33 equipped with ANB-H-1 receivers, the early brown foam ear cups and the quick disconnect plug is the red PL-354 type. The leather on the metal frame work of the headset is in excellent condition, showing no damage, stains, wear or mildew damage. the ear cups are still very supple and have no damage of any type. The black ANB-H-1 receivers are also in great shape. These were manufactured in Chicago, Illinois. The wiring of the headset is complete and undamaged as well. The goggles are the AN6530 type with the clear lenses. The elastic headband is black, and still keeps the goggles securely in position on the helmet. The one piece face cushion is in excellent condition and has no distortions or damage. This set of goggles was manufactured by Charles Fisher. This 8th Air Force flight helmet also comes with a revised A-10 oxygen mask and canvas storage case. The mask was manufactured by the Acushnet Rubber Company in April of 1943 and is a size small. This type oxygen mask was designed to be used with the demand regulator only. The rubber mask is also in excellent condition. The elastic bands are still very flexible, as well as the connecting hose. This one still has the nose clip in place! The canvas storage case is like all other components, in excellent condition. The is no damage, no stains, the snaps work and the stencils are very legible. This equipment is correct for any 8th Air Force bomber crew, B-17 or B-24. If you collect WWII USAAC flight gear then take a hard look at this set, no upgrade will ever be needed!
