This is a pocket sized edition of the New Testament printed in New York in 1839. The pocket edition New Testament measures 3" wide and 4" tall. This small, black leather bound testament is in very good condition. On the spine in gold lettering is the word TESTAMENT. It was printed in 1839 in New York by D Fanshaw, for the American Bible Society. There is no writing in pencil or ink, anywhere that I can see. There is a small tag on the inside front cover that reads, "From the DEPOSITORY of the New Orleans Bible Society, 65 Gravier St. Where a general assortment of religious works is also to be found. 1845" The gold leaf pages are in good condition and are easily read. This small testament would make a nice addition to your Civil War era personal effect or camp display.
