This is pocket sized edition of the New Testament with a pencil written name, but I cannot make it out. The pocket edition New Testament measure 3" wide and 4 5/8" tall. This small, red leather bound testament is in good condition. On the spine in gold lettering is the word TESTAMENT. It was printed in 1861 in New York by the American Bible Society. On the inside where the chapter index is printed, written in pencil is a name that looks to be H.W. Hathbroom, but I'm not sure. There is some more writing in pencil on the back page of the testament, but it is not legible. written in pencil again. The gold leaf pages are in good condition and are easily read. This small testament would make a nice addition to your Civil War era personal effect or camp display.
