This is a non excavated Confederate Lined C Cavalry button from the Civil War period. The button is of a two piece design, does not have a back mark and measures 22.80 mm. The majority of the gilt remains on the button, the face practically glows! The shank is still reporting for duty, and is standing tall. These buttons have been attributed to the English makers of Smith, Kemp and Wright out of Birmingham. They were brought in though the Federal blockade, and dealers were able to sell them without advertising who the maker was. If you collect Civil War buttons you better give this one a hard look, it's one of the best Confederate Cavalry buttons I've ever had!
