This is an 1800's gunsmith's finger vise. It measures 4 1/2" long, the jaws are 1 1/2" wide and it has a maximum opening of 1". Originally it would open wider, but the pivot pin is bent. These were used by gunsmiths to clamp items in place, either while they were mocking up the weapon, or when soldering parts together. It's just a cool little piece of history that looks great displayed with your old long guns from the 1800's!
