Shimer Firecracker Toy Cannon Circa 1895

This is a cast iron toy cannon made by the William Shimer and Son Company of Freemansburg Pennsylvania. This toy cast iron cannon fired #1 cannon crackers, and was patented by Milton J. Shimer. The patent number granted him was 538,181 and was granted on 23 April, 1895. The cannon measures 7 1/2" in length, 3 1/2" tall and 3 3/4" wide. The carriage and cannon tube are cast iron painted black and the wheels are cast iron and painted red. The cannon tube is stamped PAT APRIL 223 95. This old toy cannon is in original, untouched condition, and all remaining paint is original. Pre 1900 toys are quite collectible, and this will fit well in any collection.
