This is a .38 caliber short rimfire cartridge from the post Civil War era. The copper cased cartridge is head stamped with a U in the center of the case. The case length is 19.02 mm with a projectile diameter of 9.27 mm, with an overall length of 30.59 mm. The projectile has an aged, dark gray patina to it., almost as dark as the now nearly black copper case. There aren't a whole lot of these rimfire cartridges floating around out there. If you have an ammunition collection, this one needs to be in it!
