This is a pair of late 1800's Plains Indians beaded moccasins. They are approximately 10" in length and 3" at the widest point. They are not of the split tongue design, indicating they are a female set of moccasins. The uppers are made of tanned buckskin, with the soles made of buffalo hide sewn with an inside seam. The uppers have bead work of red, white, blue and green. The white background of beads makes a great contrast for the red points with blue beaded crosses above it. Along the sole of each moccasin are blue triangles, accented with red and white beads on the inside of the triangle. A small strip of red cloth with floral designs has been sewn around the top of the opening of each moccasin. The tanned buckskin is very soft and pliable. There is minimal bead loss on each moccasin, with the left one having the most at the toe. The soles have no holes but show plenty of use from wear. There are no repairs on either moccasin. These Native American Plains Indian moccasins are in very good condition, display like a million dollars and will really put some wow in your Native American collection!
