This is a pewter figurine from an unknown sculptor entitled "Confederate Infantry Private". The pewter figure of a Confederate Cavalry officer comes on an attractive oval wooden base that measures 4 3/4" by 3 1/2" and is approximately 5 1/2" tall. The sculptor went into great detail, showing the Lieutenant Colonel in the thick of the fighting, slashing with his saber with revolver drawn! He holds his sword with his right hand, his left hand grips his drawn revolver. The LTC wears a double breasted cavalry shell jacket, trousers and over the knee boots. His rectangle belt plate is adorned with a star. The only items worn on his belt are his holster and scabbard. He has a canteen slung over his right shoulder. This Confederate Cavalry commander wears a slouch hat with an oval insignia on the front and an ostrich plume on the left side. The wooden base has a pewter banner that reads Confederate Lieutenant Colonel of Cavalry, with a drum, US and Confederate flag on the left side. This piece would make a great desk ornament or a decorator piece in your war room, perhaps the perfect birthday or Christmas gift!
