This is a pewter figurine from an unknown sculptor entitled "Union Infantry Corporal". The pewter figure of a Union infantryman comes on an attractive oval wooden base that measures 4 3/4" by 3 1/2" and is approximately 5 1/2" tall. The sculptor went into great detail, showing the Corporal on the attack, charging with fixed bayonet. He holds his rifle with both hands, ready to drive the bayonet into his foe. Billy Yank wears a five button sack coat with the chevrons of a Corporal. His rectangle US belt plate with belt, cap box and bayonet scabbard are clearly visible. His cartridge box with breast plate is slung over his left shoulder, while his haversack and canteen are slung over his right shoulder. Ol' Billy wears standard brogans and a McDowell style forage cap without insignia. The wooden base has a pewter banner that reads Union Infantry Corporal, with a drum, US and Confederate flag on the left side. This piece would make a great desk ornament or a decorator piece in your war room, perhaps the perfect birthday or Christmas gift!
