Non Dug New York Militia Coat Button

This is a non excavated New York Excelsior coat button from the pre Civil War period. The button is of a two piece design and is back marked SCOVILLS & CO/WATERBURY and measures 20.86 mm. The majority of the gilt remains on the button. The shank is still reporting for duty, but looks to be repaired. This is still a nice piece to complete your button collection, or maybe the final piece you need to complete a restored Civil War militia coat from the state of New York.
