This is a pewter figurine from Chilmark from the "Leaders Of Gettysburg" collection of Lieutenant General Ambrose Powell Hill sculpted by Francis J. Barnum in 1997. The pewter figure of General Reynolds comes on an attractive round wooden base that measures 4" across and is approximately 6" tall. A limited number of 1200 of the Hancock figurines were made, this one is stamped number 284. Barnum went into great detail, showing the general standing, looking out over the battlefield. He is standing beside a small improvised table. He is resting his left hand on the hilt of his sword, his right hand is empty. A.P. Hill wears a frock coat with the collar stars of a Confederate Lieutenant General. He is wearing his sword belt rig with his sword in the scabbard. Sitting on the table by Hill's right hand is a binocular case, small lantern and a tin cup. Resting on the ground under the table is Hill's haversack. Lieutenant General A.P. Hill was a Confederate Corps Commander at the Battle of Gettysburg and commanded the units that opened the first day of the battle. This piece listed for $225 when originally released. It would make a great desk ornament or a decorator piece in your war room, perhaps the perfect birthday or Christmas gift!
