This is a gang mold for .54 caliber round balls such as the ones used in the M1841 "Mississippi" rifle. The mold is approximately 11 1/2" long, made of brass with an iron sprue cutter and wooden handles. The brass mold has five spherical cavities. The brass has taken on a pretty golden patina. The brass has the normal small nicks and dings, but the cavities are perfectly shaped. The iron sprue cutter pivots away from the mold, and operates perfectly. The wooden handles are securely attached to the mold, one has an iron pin inserted through it. The opposite handle has a couple of incised cuts and also has an age crack approximately 1" long. The mold opens and closes freely. This is a difficult piece to find and will really look great displayed with your Mexican War dated "Mississippi" rifle.
