This is a set of four bone buttons made during the Civil War era. Buttons made of cow bone were commonly used on clothing during the Civil War period by both armies, as well as the civilian population. This set of of buttons contains two medium sized, four hole buttons, one small two hole button and one very small two hole button. The two medium sized ones are commonly found on men's trousers and shirts. They are that tan/yellow color so often seen. The small two hole button is an off white and is the right size for shirt cuff buttons. The smallest button has a slight rim, and is similar in color to the larger buttons. These would go great in a housewife if you need to put one together.
