This is a pewter figurine from Chilmark from the "Leaders Of Gettysburg" collection of major General John Reynolds sculpted by Francis J. Barnum in 1997. The pewter figure of General Reynolds comes on an attractive round wooden base that measures 4" across and is approximately 6" tall. A limited number of 1200 of the Reynolds figurines were made, this one being #284 of 1200. Barnum went into great detail, showing the general standing, looking out over the battlefield. He is standing with his right foot resting atop an ammunition chest of a wrecked artillery caisson. He hold his binoculars in his gloved right hand, his left hand resting on a shattered tree trunk. Reynolds wears a frok coat with the shoulder straps of a Major General. His M1851 sword belt rig with field and staff officer's sword and binocular case are all he has on. His old slouch hat and a smooth side Union canteen are seen on the chest his foot rests on. Major General John F Reynolds was killed on the first day of battle at Gettysburg. This piece listed for $225 when originally released. It would make a great desk ornament or a decorator piece in your war room, perhaps the perfect birthday or Christmas gift!
