This is a set of Tennessee State Seal buttons from the late 1800's. The two piece cuff sized buttons are in good condition. The majority of the gilt remains on both buttons, showing some loss in the higher areas only. The buttons have a lined background, with the words AGRICULTURE and COMMERCE on the face, along with the Roman Numerals XVI, a plow, sheaf of wheat, cotton stalk and a riverboat. These buttons were worn on United Confederate Veterans reunion uniforms. The buttons are both back marked "PETTIBONE MF'G CO. CIN.". The shanks are present and straight as an arrow. This will add a little touch of color to your Tennessee UCV collection!
