GAR Mourning Ribbon Post 91 LeMars Iowa

This is a Grand Army of the Republic mourning ribbon from the Mower Post 91 in LeMars, Iowa. The brass hanger has the GAR letters on a stippled field. The original pin is securely mounted on the reverse side. The ribbon is securely attached to the hanger, and is made of black silk at the top and bottom, with a white silk center piece. The top section of the ribbon is trimmed in silver and has silver lettering that reads MOWER/Post No. 91/LeMARS, IOWA. The center piece has an image of a GAR Medal with the words In Memoriam printed in an arc over the medal. The bottom section is also trimmed in silver and is printed with Honor The Noble Dead. A gold bullion tassel is sewn onto the bottom of the ribbon. The colors on this ribbon are outstanding! There is no fading or discoloration what so ever. This GAR post was named after Major General Joseph Anthony Mower of the Union Army. The post was charted on 26 August, 1882 and started with 43 members. This is an absolutely beautiful ribbon, and if you collect GAR items you shouldn't pass this one up! it comes displayed in an 8" x 12" riker case.
