This is a low port Spanish charro bit from the 1800's. The bit is 7 1/4" in length, has a port height of 1" and the mouth is 4 1/4" across. The bit comes complete with curb chain and and rein chains. Each cheek of the bit has silver inlaid from the curb chain ring to the rein chain ring. The mouthpiece is capped on each end by two small silver conchos. The conchos are highly decorate with floral designs and the words "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS", which translates to United States of Mexico. The metal has taken on a dark brown patina, with surface rust over the entire bit and chains. The curb ring is slightly bent inwards on the left side. This will look great displayed with some of the Spanish Southwestern spurs in the shop, or better yet, your home or office!
