This is a Belgium 9mm pinfire revolver from the 1800's. The overall length of this little pocket pistol is 9", with a barrel length of 4 5/8". The only markings found on this revolver is the number 10, apparently the serial number. It is located on the right side of the barrel, inside rim of the cylinder, left side of the trigger, and on the left side of the frame under the grip. The entire metal surface of the weapon has a silver/gray patina mixed with black freckling, mainly from the cylinder back. The barrel is round and equipped with a brass pin type front sight. The mechanics work perfectly, the cylinder rotating and locking up perfectly when the folding spur trigger is pulled. The loading gate locks in the closed position. The ejector rod is present. The wooden grips are checkered and show moderate wear. They fit the gun like a glove and have no cracks or loss of wood. A lanyard ring is attached to the bottom of the frame. There were hundreds of thousands of these guns made in the mid to late 19th century, most from the huge Belgium arms industry. There are plenty of images of soldiers on both sides carrying these pinfire revolvers during the Civil War.
