This is a European import single shot pistol most likely made in France in the late 1800's. The overall length of this weapon is 15 3/4", with the barrel measuring 10 1/4". The caliber of this blunderbuss type pistol is unknown and is dark, rusted and pitted throughout the length of the barrel. There is one faint proof mark on the round barrel, along with what appear to be twelve depressed turkey tracks along the top of the barrel. The lock plate shows no makers mark, but has some very ornate engraving and a double border. The mechanics of the gun are crisp and operate with flaw. The barrel, lock plate and trigger all have a silver gray patina. It's looks as though this one has been cleaned in the last few years and has began to age again. The stock has been refurbished, or may even be a restock. The pistol has some definite eye appeal, and will display well with an import or European firearms collection.
