This is a pair of US Navy binoculars with carrying case from World War II. These binos are marked on the left optical tube with "This Instrument has COATED OPTICS Clean Lenses carefully" Below the optics warning the optics designation of 7 x 50 is stamped in white. The right optical tube is stamped in all white lettering and reads "U.S. NAVY BU.SHIPS/MARK 32 MOD.2/N262566 1943" and the second set reads "UNIVERSAL/CAMERA CORP/NEW YORK, N.Y. The optics are incredible with these binoculars! I tried them out on a known distance of 1 mile and was able to read a billboard just like it was right in front of me! The eyepieces focus individually, allowing for an outstanding picture. The body of the binoculars show honest usage and wear. Some of the high points of the body have the the black finish worn off. The bottom of the left optical tube is slightly bent, either from being dropped or hit by something. It doesn't bother the clarity of the image though. The black nylon carrying strap is in good condition. It is stamped with the Hood logo, Hood 26. The synthetic carrying case is also a Hood product and is stamped on the bottom Hood B5. The case shows signs of use, but has no damage at all. The fact that the carrying strap and case are made of synthetic and hard rubber indicate these binoculars were used in the Pacific theater of operations. These materials held up better to the heat, humidity and dampness of the Pacific climate. These are in remarkable condition and will make an excellent addition to any Pacific theater Naval display. They can even still be used today!
