This is a United Confederate Veterans slouch hat from the early 1900's. It is made from a gray felt material and has a 3 1/2" brim. The crown has been formed to a 4" height. The 1 1/16" hat band is complete and firmly secured to the hat. The leather sweat band is also firmly secured to the hat. The United Confederate Veterans badge pinned on is larger than most seen. The wreath measures 3 3/4" wide and 1 1/2" high. The letters are 1/2" tall and are attached to a bar in the center of the wreath. This one shows some definite wear, with sweat stains showing on the outer hat band. There are some small stains scattered around on the brim, just gives it character though! The edge of the brim originally had a 1/8" band sewn on to protect the brim from unraveling. A section of it is missing approximately 1/4 of the way around, going from the front around to the right side of the brim. The interior of the ht shows signs of wear but has no damage. There is no name or initials on the hat anywhere. No information came with it, but it was definitely worn by some proud Confederate veteran to several reunions or events. It will definitely add to your UCV collection, especially if you have a frock coat of shell jacket on a mannequin!
