UMC Cap Tin

This is a cap tin for pistol caps manufactured by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut. The paper label on the lid is in good condition and reads THE UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO. Bridgeport Conn, U.S.A. Beneath is a red circle with the letters UMC in white, with the words Trade Mark to the left and right of the circle. In the center of the cap is CENTRAL FIRE Ground Edge Foil Lined, and at the bottom if the lid is PERCUSSION CAPS. The body of the tin is jappened black and has a slight bend in the lip. The fit of the lid to the body is tight. The United Metallic Cartridge company was in business from 1867 through 1911, when it merged with Remington Firearms company in 1912. This is an early 1900's tin with around 30 caps inside. These tins look great displayed next to antique percussion firearms!
