This is an early 1900's primitive 5 gallon 12 stave wooden keg. It is 17" tall and 10 3/4" across the top and bottom. There is no top to this one. The keg is retained by two metal bands, one at the top and one at the bottom. There are also two metal wire bands for added support approximately 3 1/2" below the top band and the same distance above the lower band. It does not appear that this one was intended to transport liquid, but more likely solid materials. One of the larger staves is missing a section of wood about 2 1/4" long at the very top. This thing has some killer display appeal, and would make somebody a great planter or kitchen decoration!
