This is an R.E. Dietz "Monarch" lantern from the early 1900's. It stands 13" tall and is 7 1/4" wide at the widest point. The Monarch model was first produced in 1900, and was produced in seven different variations, well into the the 1960's. This lantern has a domed tank with a 3/4" fuel cap. It is equipped with a "Blizzard" style lift system for the globe that still functions. The globe itself is tinted red and has no cracks or chips. It is marked LOC-NOB/PATD 12-4-23. The top of the lantern is stamped DIETZ in an oval. On the top of the fuel tank to the left of the filler cap DIETZ is also stamped. On the opposite side of the tank is the model name MONARCH. The wick feed still rotates freely, but the wick is missing from this one. This style lantern is the most often seen lantern in the 1940's and 50's Hollywood Westerns. This would make a great decorator piece for your cabin.
