This is a late 1800's hammered copper bowl. It measures 7 3/4" across the top, 5 1/2" across the bottom and is 2 1/2" tall. There are two small brass handles attached to the bowl by copper brads. The inside of the bowl has a black japenned finish. The outer copper has a dark bronze appearance, with a light trace of brass around the bottom of the bowl. Looks as if it was intended to seal a crack in the bowl, or perhaps to join to sections of the bowl. The hammer marks to shape the bowl are very evident on the exterior of the bowl. This one looks like it saw plenty of use. This is another great decoration for your cabin or kitchen.
