This is a cotton and chamois money belt from the 1880's. The leather pouch measures 20 3/8" long and the cotton belt is 22 1/2" in length. It looks to fit a waist size from 28 to 32. While there are four flaps, the chamois pouch is divided into three sections. The two end sections measure 3 3/4" wide and 3 1/4" tall. The center section is 8 1/4" wide and 3 1/4" tall. Apparently the smaller sections were for coins and the center section for paper bills or documents. The natural chamois is as soft and pliable as the day this one was stitched together. The sections are closed by flaps that fold over and secure with buttons. One of the red milk buttons is missing, another is not secured to the leather but in the pouch. The last two are securely attached. The cotton belt is securley sewn on and the folded tip is stitched to prevent fraying. The metal buckle is stamped PAT MAR 13 1883. This thing would look cool in an old west gamblers display or late 1800's currency collection!
