This is a United Confederate Veterans souvenir badge from the Chattanooga reunion held in 1913. The hanger measures 1 5/8" wide. Across the front of the hanger is the word SOUVENIR. The medallion is 1 3/8" across. The front side of the medallion is pretty busy. Around the perimeter is REUNION UNITED CONFEDERATE VETERANS CHATTANOOGA TENN. In the center of the medallion is a left facing bust of Robert E. Lee in the uniform of a Lieutenant General. To the left of the bust inside a banner is MAY and to the right in a banner is 27 - 29. Underneath MAY are the numbers 19, under 27 -29 are the numbers 13, indicating the year the reunion took place. Under the bust of Lee is GEN. R.E. LEE. The hanger is blank on the back. On the back of the medallion is the Confederate Battle Flag flanked by the Confederate National Flags. The gilt finish remains on the majority of the medal. The left side of the hanger has a small amount of discoloration on the scroll work. This is a nice looking veterans souvenir that would go well with your UCV collection.
