Model 1851 Navy Colt cap and ball revolver. The 7 1/2" barrel has a single line New York address. Serial number 168963 puts the production year in 1863. All serial numbers match except for the loading lever, which is unmarked. The beautiful walnut grips retain their original finish. There are a few nicks on the bottom of the grips. The cylinder scene is light but still visible. The silver wash is gone from the trigger guard and back strap, leaving the brass a mellow golden color, very eye pleasing. The barrel, loading lever, cylinder and frame all have the same grayish/silver patina. The mechanics are solid and the cylinder indexes correctly. This is a very tight and functional gun. These Colt navies were the weapon of choice for Confederate Cavalry. An overall good looking Civil War work horse that won't break the budget!
