This is the last set of paperwork we have for Corporal Josef Wenger, German World War II veteran. These are two separate documents. The Kriegs urlaubsschein was the German soldier's pass/leave form. The Kleiner Wehrmachtfahrschein, small military travel pass parts 1 & 2, was used in conjunction with the pass/leave form. Special instruction were often indicated on the edges of the leave form. This one states that Corporal Josef Wenger, from flak Regiment 46 (motorized) was to be on leave from 13 April, 1945 through an unspecified date in May 1945. There are two separate sets of instructions on the edge. There is one date stamp of 17 April, 1945. The part one of the travel pass states it is for one person, Wenger, and that he is traveling from the train station in Peitz to the train station Notsch a.d. Gail, dated 12 April, 1945. Part two of the travel pass again states the pass is for one person, dated 12 April, 1945 and continues travel to Dresden. Normally part one was used for the outbound trip and part two was for the return. The diagonal stripes on the travel ticket indicate that the ticket was free. No stripes meant that the soldier had been required to purchase the ticket. This is the last bit of documentation on a German Corporal who served at least from 1941 through what appears to be the end of the war. If you collect World War II German artifacts, this would complete a pretty impressive grouping we have on hand!
