Excavated Model 1859 Spur
Item #: AA764
This is an excavated Model 1859 Union Cavalry spur. This was the standard spur manufactured by Federal arsenals and contractors during the Civil War and issued to the Union Cavalry. The spur still retains it's original shape with just a slight bend at one of the strap openings. A small part of the rowel remains with the spur, with the majority having rusted away. The remainder is frozen in the neck and does not rotate. This one was recovered on private property near the Perryville, Kentucky battlefield.
