Here is a set of Civil War Artillery 2nd Lieutenant shoulder straps. Officers during the Civil War and subsequent wars were identified in rank by the use of these shoulder boards. Some were designed to be sewn on while others were attached by a hook and loop. These boards measure 4' in length and 1 1/2" wide. The back is black felt material. The front is red felt material to indicate the artillery branch of service. The straps have a border of gilted metal. Both straps have some moth damage but still display well. These would look great on an artillery frock coat. They would display great on their own with a couple artillery shells and maybe a kepi with crossed cannons.
