Unidentified United Confederate Veterans 9 button reunion coat. This coat is very well constructed as it was made by the New York Clothing House, Baltimore Maryland. This company was in business from 1878 - 1889. The grey material has very little moth damage and a few period hand stitched repairs. All are visible in the photographs. All machine stitching is still very tight. The coat is fully lined and has two inside pockets. The collar and false cuffs are black in color. At one time there were 3 cuff buttons on each sleeve, but they are no longer with the coat. The nine coat buttons are marked UCV 1861-65 on the perimeter and a Confederate Battle Flag in the center. One of the buttons is loose, being pinned to the coat so it doesn't get lost. The back mark of the buttons is Waterbury Co's Inc. Conn. The Waterbury button company did not change to this name until 1944. Apparently the original buttons were removed and were replaced by these. The buttons could be replaced with period correct 1880-1890's buttons, or enjoy the coat just as it is. The cloth colors are still bright and the material has very little damage. Here's a chance to own a very nice example of a Confederate veterans reunion jacket!
