Early 1900's UCV hat from Texas. Since he was from Texas the hat is naturally a Stetson! This one is an early 1900's "Boss of the Plains" version from John B Stetson, premier hat maker for the American west! The hat has a 3" brim and a 4" crown fashioned into a Montana Peak style. It also has two grommets in the brim to facilitate a leather neck band or chin strap, depending on how it was rigged. The strap is no longer with the hat. The leather sweat band is missing from the hat, but the liner and Stetson tag are still present. The one inch wide hat band with bow is still reporting for duty too! A silver wreath with the letters CV has been added to the center of the wreath. Last but not least, a brass five point star is pinned onto the left side of the hat. The left side of the hat has some issues with mothing, but it doesn't detract from the appeal of this one. This is an absolute must if you are a UCV or Texas collector!
