Sons of Union Veterans Medal
Item #: AA558
1888 version of the Sons of Union Veterans medal. The braoch, ribbon and medal measure 2 1/2"tall. The broach itself is 1 5/16" wide. The pin back broke and has been repaired long ago. The front of the broach is written in Latin and reads FILII VETERANORUM. The medal has an intertwined SV in the center. Written around the SV in Latin are GRATIA DEI SERVATUS. A laurel wreath surrounds the center piece that is clutched by an eagle. Two cannon barrels complete the design. The metal portions have turned a dark bronze color. The red, white and blue ribbon is very stained but has no tears or frays. Good addition to your GAR collection.
