USN Pistol Cartridge Box

Hard to find accoutrement from the Civil War. This USN marked pistol cartridge box is 5 1/2" wide and 4 1/4" tall. The cap box sewn onto the inner flap is missing, as well as the tin. The embossed USN is faint on the outer flap, but is clearly visible on the inside. The inner flap is embossed NAVY YARD PHIL'A 1865 with two stars, one on each side of the Philladelphia mark. The box is also marked with two stars on each side of the box. The single belt loop is 2 1/2" wide. The closure tab is torn. The leather is still pliable, but has some crazing and flaking on the outer flap. If you collect cartridge boxes this one is probably missing. Don't let it slip away!
