Two piece brass pocket compass from the civil war era. Another less thought of but extremely important piece of Civil War history. Cavalry units were often detached from larger units and on the move in unfamiliar territory. Without one of these, it would have been easy to make a wrong turn and end up in an enemy prison camp. This one is engraved with the name of George Alexander on the inside of the cover. It still finds North, so you can use it in a pinch! A nice item to place with your cavalry or engineer collection.
