Manhattan 36 Caliber Pistol
Item #: AA452
Manhattan 36 caliber series III pistol. These "copy cat Colts" were produced between Sep 1861 and Apr 1864. This is the four inch barrel version with all serial numbered areas matching, even the wedge! The five shot cylinder is marked PATENTED DEC 27 1859, no serial number. The scene is faint, but still able to make out a naval ship. The walnut grips are nearly mint, retaining all the original varnish. There is still some silver wash on the back strap and trigger housing. The remainder of the metal has some case color, with the rest aging in an even grayish patina. This is an exceptional example of a Civil War period handgun from a maker other than Colt!
