Starr Cut Down 1818 Saber

Nathan Starr Model 1818 NCO saber cut down to a Bowie knife. Not one, now there are TWO Starr cut down's in the shop! The overall length is 17 1/2" with the blade measuring 12 1/4" in length and 1 1/4" in width at the hilt. The cut down blade culminates in a clip point edge so often associated with southern used edged weapons. Near the hilt the blade is stamped N Starr/US/P/LS in four lines. The wooden grip is devoid of leather and has been cut even with the tang on the bottom side. An example of this saber in it's original configuration is shown in Peterson's "The American Sword" book on pages 12-13 as item 9.
