Excavated remnants of a rectangular Virginia belt buckle. The buckle is of die stamped brass construction. Only the center and lower right corner remain of the buckle. The soldered brass belt hook is detached, but was also recovered with the two parts of the buckle. The buckle was recovered at the Rutherford's Farm battlefield in Virginia. This example is listed in Steve Mullinax book "Confederate Belt Buckles & Plates" as plate 391. This will make an interesting piece in your Virginia or excavated collection.
