Militia Belt Plate

Militia belt plate circa 1850. The plate is made of rolled brass applied over a sheet iron back. The plate shows moderate wear, mainly in the raised areas of the eagle. The plate measures 2 7/8" x 1 11/16". The book "Plates and Buckles of the American Military 1795 - 1874" by Sydney Kerksis references this plate under Militia figure 225.
