Vintage Hand Carved Wood Duck Decoy

This is a vintage hand carved wooden duck decoy from the early 1900's. The decoy measures 13 3/4" from the bill to the tail and is 5 3/8" at it's widest point. This one is painted a darker, almost black, color. This decoy does not have glass eyes, and it never did. The hand carving is evident throughout the decoy. There is an old tag taped to the bottom of the decoy that reads "314 Redhead, graceful head styling, used at the St. Clair Flats Shooting Co. in the early 1900's. The St. Clair Flats Shooting Company was established in 1874. It was also known as the Canada Club. It was one of the oldest hunting clubs on Lake St. Clair. Some of the most notable decoy carvers came from this area. This one would look great in your lodge or hunting cabin.
