The badge is made up of a header badge, ribbon and a medallion suspended from the ribbon. The header badge features crossed rifles over which the Grand Army of the Republic emblem and the letters GAR have been overlaid. The header has a bronze tint to it and is very attractive. The red, white and blue ribbon is in excellent condition. There are no frays, tears or stains found anywhere. The ribbon has gold lettering that reads "DELEGATE/S. of V.". Suspended from the ribbon is a medallion depicting the Memorial Auditorium of Wellington in the center. Above the building is a ribbon that reads 42nd ANNUAL ENCAMPMENT OF KANSAS, underneath that the letters GAR on a military style shield. Below the building is the city name WELLINGTON and year of the encampment, 1923. The back of the medallion has raised lettering that reads "MEMORIAL/AUDITORIUM/ ERECTED 1922/IN MEMORY OF ALL/U.S. SOLDIERS/SAILORS MARINES and NURSES. This badge is still on the original card from the manufacturer, Bastian Bros. Co. of Rochester, N.Y. The badge does not have a back mark. This encampment was a state wide event, open to all GAR Sons of Veterans members from Kansas. The badge is in near mint condition, and would an excellent addition to any GAR collection.
