This is an early 1900's wedge style axe head from east Tennessee. It measures approximately 4 7/8" wide and 3 1/8" high. This is the perfect size for a camp or belt hatchet, very similar to the ones used during the American Revolution. This one has a notch along the bottom edge used to remove nails. There is no visible touch mark on either side. It weights approximately 3 pounds and no longer has the haft. This came in to the shop from the local Irwin, Tennessee area.
