Excavated Cartridge Cases From Ft Supply, Oklahoma

This is an excavated cartridge case set recovered from Fort Supply, Oklahoma. These items were recovered by a long time Indian territory relic hunter who recently passed away. The relics were recovered on private property with the land owners permission. The relics are displayed in a riker case that measures 8" by 12". There are twenty two .45 caliber revolver cartridges and thirty .45-70 rifle cartridges. Also displayed with the cartridges is a General Service button, the outer skin of an old lock, and some lose .45-70 bullets. Fort Supply was established in 1868 as a "Camp of Supply" for the winter campaign General Philip Sheridan led against the Southern Plains Indians. The fort remained active until 1894. These recovered relics are from the 1870's to 1880's time period.
