This is a Spanish American War period patriotic flag pin. During the Spanish American War period men, women and children wore these pins to show their support for the war effort. This patriotic flag pin is made from a single piece of woven cotton material that has been dyed red, white and blue. It is made to represent the American flag, and could be worn as a lapel or hat pin. The edges are frayed, more so on the left side. A simple stick pin is used to secure the flag to clothing. While the edges are frayed, the colors still remain bright, and the flag displays well. This would look nice in a home front display or collection.
