This is a Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War lapel pin from the early 1900's. The SUV was formed in 1883 that ensure the legacy of the Union Civil War veteran would not end whose the last veteran passed away. This lapel pin measures 5/8" high and 1/2" wide. The enamel finish of the pin is flawless. It is secured to a lapel by a vertical pin with drop in locking swivel catch. The pin is back marked J.K. DAWSON/PHILA. Even though it is small, it carries great detail on the face. It will make an excellent addition to any GAR or SUV collection.
