This is a set of two Sons of Union Veterans celluloids from the early 1900's. These small celluloids measure just 1" across, but are highly detailed. One has the Coat of Arms of the Sons of Union Veterans, the other shows two hands grasped in a hand shake, with the American flag draped over the arms. The Sons of Union Veterans can trace it's origins back to November, 1881 in Pittsburgh, Pa with the formation of Davis Camp # 1 of the Sons of Union Veterans. By the early part of 1882 a Division organization has taken place in Pennsylvania. At the GAR National encampment held at the end of July, 1883 in Denver, Colorado, the Grand Army of the Republic officially gave it's full recognition and support to the Sons of Union Veterans. The two celluloids display very well, and come in riker case for quick display.
