This is a copy of Colt's Model 1877 "Lightning" .38 caliber revolver made in the late 1800's. The revolver has an overall length of 9", with a barrel length of approximately 4 3/4". The metal has an overall appearance of a dull gun metal gray, with the exception of the ejector rod housing. It has been nickel plated, and retains almost all of the nickel finish. The black hard rubber grips are in good condition, showing minimal wear. The ejector rod is missing. It looks like a lanyard ring was attached to the butt of the frame at one point, but is missing as well. There are very few stamps visible on the gun, the number 92 is stamped on the bottom of the barrel, the back of the cylinder and bottom of the frame. The barrel stamp is only partially visible, and reads "COLTS SISTEME REVOLVER EUSKALDUNA T. U. y C". This is a pretty rare revolver, made by Tomas Urizar Azaldegui's shop, that appeared in the Eibar industrial register first in 1889. Combined with this rare maker is the stamp W. F. & CO'S EX. on the back strap, standing for Wells Fargo & Company Express. The double action feature of the revolver works fine. The bore is in good condition. This is a pretty rare gun, made by a Mexican gunsmith for the Wells Fargo Company. Whether you collect Colt revolvers or Wells Fargo pieces, I'm sure you don't have one of these.
