Excavated Hotchkiss & Parrott Shell Base Section

This is a set of excavated shell base sections from a US Hochkiss and Parrott artillery shells. The Hotchkiss shell base is pretty easily identifiable by the rounded end of the base, along with the flame grooves still visible. The Parrott shell base is also very recognizable from the sabot at the base. Neither of these shell fragments have been stabilized and still show active rust. Both of the shell bases were recovered on private property in the Ruchmond, Virginia area.
